日常の中で五感を鍛え、情緒豊かな男になるための目線

衣食住の中で、動物にないのが衣。
人間だけが装う文化を持ちます。
しかし、現代の日本人は正しい服選びができていません。
戦後は情報過多となり、
誰もが、自分に似合う、似合わないということを考えないで、
流行で服を選んでしまうからです。
各個人が自分の顔かたち、体型、職種や立場、場の空気などと
バランスが合う基準で服を選んで、
美しく着こなしているかが問題です。
服の基礎をきちんと理解したうえで、
質の高い和洋折衷スタイルを確率するために、
服選び、着方、合わせ方、個性や季節の表現などを研究します。

Of the three essentials food, clothing, and shelter, only one is lacking among animals: clothing. Only humans clothe themselves. But today’s Japanese do not know how to choose the right attire. In the postwar period the Japanese have become so swamped with information that when choosing what to wear they simply conform with whatever is in vogue, without stopping to think whether it suits them or not. The really important thing is for each individual to select his attire according to how well it complements his facial features, his build, his occupation and status, and the mood of the occasion — and then wear it with panache. Here we seek to understand the basics of fashion and create a stylish look that elegantly blends the Japanese and the Western. To that end we investigate how to choose clothes, wear them, match them, and make them expressive of one’s personality and the season.

昔はどの家庭でも、
おばあさんがじっくり時間をかけた
料理の美味しさが味わえました。
日本食であればダシのとりかたや
煮物の加減などに繊細な神経使われ、
姑から嫁に継承する文化がありました。
現代は便利で手軽な食材が多くなり、
手間ひまかけた料理に触れる機会が少なくなりました。
このため、今でも手間ひまかけた家庭料理の味を
感じさせるお店を探索して、味覚を豊にしながら
お店の風情やサービスなども研究します。
洋食でも同じです。

In the old days in Japan every family enjoyed delicious home cooking lovingly prepared by Grandmother. Meticulous care was taken in preparing stock for soup and ensuring stewed dishes tasted just right, the techniques for doing so being handed down from mother-in-law to daughter-in-law. But today, with the proliferation of convenient, easy-to-prepare foods, one seldom has the opportunity to savor a meal on which such time and effort have been lavished. So we search for restaurants, whether Japanese or Western-style, that still serve cuisine with the taste of lovingly prepared home cooking, and explore the mood inside and service offered while cultivating our palates.

明治から大正時代には完成された和洋折衷住居がありました。
日本の人口背景から、
全ての人々が広い邸宅を構えることは無理なので、
洋式が主流の現代住居の中でも、
調度類など、どこかに和の要素を取り入れた
生活の楽しさを考えます。

In the Japan of the Meiji and Taisho periods — the late nineteenth and early twentieth century — there existed a style of home that perfectly synthesized Japanese and Western elements. Japan’s population conditions make it impossible for everyone today to maintain a spacious residence. So we consider ways to bring an enjoyable dash of traditional Japan, in the form of furniture or whatever, into today’s predominantly Western-style dwellings.

遊びのありかたを考えます。

Today it is all work, work, work, and the pure, unadulterated joy of play has faded from people’s lives. We explore forms of amusement and recreation in the belief that inside the man is an eternal boy.

学ぶことのきっかけはそこにあると考えます。
まずは、五感の古典を紐解き、先人たちの足跡をたどり、
お手本にすることからはじまり、
そこから自分の流儀を生み出す。
その過程で知識を深めるために文献をあたる。
このくり返しが生きていくことと考えます。

Take actions in your own interests and curiosity. The opportunity of learning and thinking is there to find.
First of all, try to elucidate the classics by using five senses, follow the footsteps of our predecessors,
and begin to be a role model, then produce your own way.
In the process of this above, we’d deepen our knowlegde from literature.
We believe that this repetition is to live.

名所旧跡を見るために出かけるのもよいが、
旅の根本とは、
自分の足で知らない土地に立ってみるということ。
隣町でもどこでも、
そこでの、地理、街並、暮らし、人々の風情の中に、
趣や郷愁を感じて自分を発見することが
旅の楽しさと考え、ものの見方を研究します。

Going out to see the historical sites might be all right, though the essence of the journey is
to see the region by standing there you’ve never been before.
We pursue the point of view, by thinking in there, through its grography, streets, living, taste of people,
by recognizing to find his new feelings and nostalgic flavor is the fun to us.

花の香り、雲の形、鳥や虫の鳴き声、旬な食べ物など、
自然の恵みに触れることで五感をみがき、
季節には季節のもの楽しむ生活を研究します。

We pursue a lifestyle dedicated to enjoying each thing in its season, to refining the senses by taking delight in the natural blessings that each of Japan’s glorious seasons brings — the fragrance of the flowers, the shapes of the clouds, the chirping of the birds and insects, the delicacies of the season.
